The Immigrant....

This is my Grandfather, "The Immigrant."
His Name was Julius Ludwig Adolf Von Pahlke.  They dropped the "Von" upon entering the U.S. A.
His eyes looked back at mine as I painted this.  Familiar eyes.  Shaped like mine.  Colored like my Mother's eyes.  His ragged little coat, and cap looked a bit small, but "serviceable" to me.

Lady With Umbrella

I drew this image on an old envelope.
She had her hair knotted tightly, wore a traditional Thai dress, and carried her umbrella
for shade from the sun.
The stamp and address add a little mystery to the image.

Book Ends: Gravelle Kids

These two guys are really FAST.
They just look sleepy.  They are saving their energy for something really important --
Like chasing rabbits or squirrels or something....
Meanwhile, they make super looking book ends.

HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR

HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR....
The assignment was to use textures on paper, and then paint abstractly.
This horse emerged out of nowhere and took over my painting.
It is difficult to see the textures on the paper, but there are many.
Again, different from my usual "style", whatever THAT is, but really interesting and fun to paint.

The Bowman Ladies
MacKenzie and Drew Bowman are darling little girls.  I sketched this for Martha, their Mother,'s birthday.

Jack Rabbit

I enjoy painting animals, as most of you already know.  So here is a watercolor on paper, Mr. Jack Rabbit.  This was painted in a very traditional method, using no white paints, and transparent watercolor.  He is a handsome dude and is waiting to come by at Easter time!!
