Serenade

Serenade
The cowboy was sitting outside of the barn at the end of the day, picking out a tune on his guitar.  Behind his sunglasses, he was totally immersed in his tune.
This painting will be shown at Colorado Watercolor Society's
annual exhibition in February in Denver.

Joey Bowman, Running from the Surf....

This little lady is Josephine Bowman, better known by Andy and Mary D. Bowman as
"Joey."  She is soft and white and wonderful.  Here, she bounces from the surf in
Michigan, where she and her parents live.  I will send her painting to
the Bowmans for a late Christmas gift.  Merry Christmas, Andy and Mary D!

Cleopatra of the Mountains....

Meet Cleopatra Grauer
Huntress, sweet girl, delicious, with a fast tongue that licks you when you get within licking distance.... She is adorable, and sister of Nocchi, and cousin of our doxie, Josephine.
Cleo has long  gorgeous hair that is silky black and cream.
Merry Christmas, Donna and Bernie!!

Gini's Door

This is the door to Gini's House....Her home is warm and welcome and wonderful...  The antique wooden door, lanterns, chilis, and pots of cacti make each guest want to continue through the door.

I painted her door for her for a Holiday gift.  Happy Holidays, Gini.

Movin' On....

Gini Pringle:  Movin' On!
A very dear friend of mine lost her wonderful husband over a year ago.  She immediately picked herself up, took her dog, Mulligan, and got moving.  No she isn't really riding the motor cycle, but she mugged for this, keeping her martini close at hand....
YOU GO GIRL!!!

Nocchi Grauer the Mighty Doxie!

Meet Nocchi Grauer, son of  Donna and Bernie Grauer.  He is a powerful miniature doxie, with ATTITUDE.  He thinks that he is a Bull Mastiff.  Nocchi is the half brother (same daddy) of Princess Josephine, our doxie.

Stay tuned, I am working on his sister, Cleopatra.  She is magnificent!!

New Bob-CAT

I sold my "original" BOB-CAT at Scottsdale Artists School charitable auction.  Jim put in a bid and we left the silent auction before closing time.  We thought that WE had re-purchased my painting.  THe next morning, when I phoned to pay for the painting, I was informed that we had been "outbid."

RATS!  I wanted to have that painting for my own, but wanted to contribute to SAS too.

So I painted BOB CAT again.  Here is BOB...  more "contrast-y" and more atmospheric.  I hope you like him!!

MISS Katie

This is MISS Katie, the Grand daughter of my dear friend, Betsy.  Katie is very fashion conscious, with her swimsuit and matching  hat.  She also shows ATTITUDE, which I am certain has come from her Grandmother.  I hope that you enjoy her darling little face.  Don't you just want to nibble those cheeks????

Finished Painting: Reid Class

This is the painted version of the drawing done in Charles Reid's class.  Our model was lovely and wore a huge black hat, against her black hair.  This made for challenges in painting her head and hat.

Reid Class: Sketch of model

Charles Reid is a fabulous instructor and a famous painter.

I am lucky enough to study with him this week.
Here is a sketch that I did of our beautiful model.  I hope you enjoy this.  I later painted her.

Connor, Driving the RV!!

Little Connor sat on Grandpa Jim's lap and happily drove the RV all over the parking lot!!  Yes, he IS really steering, although Grandpa Jim had to work the pedals as Connor is "leg length-challenged" as of yet.  He was thrilled and his big eyes sparkled.  As the ripe old age of two, he is quite an operator!

More sketches....

A few more paintings done on location in Sedona.  These were made using the water soluble pen, followed by watercolors.  Just little impressions of what I saw.  Fun outdoors in the sunshine!

Owls in "normal watercolor" and with watercolor pen

These are two owls -- same image, but painted differently.  I went to a class in Sedona on Pocket Sketching by Kath Macauley.  It was really loads of fun.  Kath uses 4X6 inch format for her sketches and draws with a water soluble pen. Then you fill in the blanks with watercolor.  It looks very different in watercolor, and in pen with watercolor.  Which do you like best?

Midsummer Dream

Midsummer Dream is an image photographed by Gini Pringle, my ace photographer friend.  This horse looked magical to me.  He was galloping freely, his tale and mane dancing while his hooves beat out a rhythm on the sooty soil.

The Scent of a Woman

Liz is my niece.  She is gorgeous inside and out.  I painted her in the past, but wanted to do a painting of her alone.  She is quiet but not asleep, and she is soft and sensual without being blatantly sexy.  I love her beautiful face and her curves.

BOB-cat

Meet BOB.  He is gorgeous and will be a gift to Scottsdale Artists School, to raffle off and make money for the school.  His image was photographed by my dear friend, and adopted big sister, Gini Pringle.  She is a fabulous photographer, obviously.  this cat was run up the saguaro by some coyotes.  He sat there patiently until they ran off.

Meet Lilly, doggie friend of my dear friend, Carol Racine.  She is fluffy and soft, and a real GIRL!  Doesn't she remind you of a pile of precious fur???

This is my very first entry.  Frightening, isn't it?  I will add photos tomorrow.  Thanks for your patience.
